Resisting Arrest, Biting a Police Officer and More Weekend Crimes

Over the weekend, 62 people were booked into the Tom Green County Jail and nearly half of those resulted in complaints, 37 total. Overall, some San Angelo folks were not so eager for that comfortable stay at the local Tom Green County Jail.

On Jan. 31, at about 2:25 a.m., Deputy Jacob Garon observed a vehicle traveling over the speed limit, 99 mph in a 70 mph zone, near Loop 306 and Farm to Market Rd 380. He conducted a traffic stop on a 2008 black Ford F-150. When he approached the vehicle, Garon detected a strong odor of alcohol. Nestor Trujillo, 32, confirmed that he had been drinking; therefore, the deputy informed he was going to conduct some sobriety tests, which Trujillo refused. Trujillo was then taken into custody for DWI, who still later refused any type of testing. A vehicle inventory was conducted before being dispatched to Home Motors.

During the vehicle inspection, a pump action Remington Wingmaster 870 was found fully loaded with one round in the chamber, with two more in the tubular magazine. A Taurus revolver was also found in the center console. It was also fully loaded with five rounds in the cylinder. As a result, Trujillo was also placed under custody for Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon and transported to TGCJ without incident.

On Feb. 1, San Angelo Police officers were dispatched to the Boulevard Apartments for a domestic disturbance at 2:03 a.m.  While on scene, officers observed Matthew Lee Doty, 24, hit the victim. The officers began to take Doty into custody, but he resisted. During the lawful apprehension, Doty bit Officer Faz on the wrist. Luckily, the bite did not cause any injury and Doty was transported to TGCJ and booked in his one room suite on the charges of Resisting Arrest search or Transport, Assault Class C Family Violence, and Assault of a Public Servant - Class C.

Other bookings into the TGCJ included:

  • Possession of marijuana and paraphernalia – 7
  • DWI – 8
  • Possession of controlled substance or dangerous drug – 5
  • Public Intoxication – 3
  • Driving while license is invalid – 3
  • No proof of financial responsibility – 2
  • Prohibited weapons knuckles – 1
  • Evading arrest – 1
  • Theft – 1
  • Criminal Trespassing – 1
  • Unlawful possession of weapons – 2

I know that Doty won't appreciate the humor but I thought the phrase: "Doty was transported to TGCJ and booked in his one room suite" was funny.

Keep up the good work. Adding a little humor to a grim situation is a good thing in my opinion.
