Body confirmed to be that of missing dentist
With assistance of the SAPD Lake Patrol, a body was retrieved from the Concho River this afternoon, Police Chief Tim Vasquez said.
Vasquez confirmed that the body is identified as Dr. Grady Bryan, a dentist and oral surgeon with a practice in San Angelo.
JP Judge Kay Longest ordered an autopsy. Vasquez said that the death of the dentist and doctor is an ongoing investigation.
Vasquez said that volunteer searching specifically for the doctor located the body in the river. Police and medics were dispatched to the scene at 3:47 p.m., he said.
Police lake patrol has been searching the river since yesterday, Vasquez said. When asked why it took so long to locate the body, Vasquez said this portion of the river is wooded and has many obstacles. He said his team was using sonar, but sometimes it takes a while. “We’ve had these instances before where a body is submerged in the water, and it takes a day or two for the body to float,” he said.
Vasquez was critical of the rumors circulating on Facebook and other social media. “I would just like to say to everyone, be cautious as they share things on social media. A lot of Rumors circulated that are completely false. It’s hurt the family and it’s been difficult, and hindered our investigation a little bit.”
“Keep the family in your prayers and allow them time to deal with this,” Vasquez said.
