San Angelo Man Jailed for Robbing Woman with Box Cutter

A 54-year-old San Angelo man has been arrested for aggravated robbery after threatening a victim with a box cutter in the parking lot of EZ Pawn.

According to San Angelo Police, Officer T. Burks was dispatched to the 600 block of Era on July 25 at 7:50 p.m., where a 34-year-old female reported she had been robbed at the EZ Pawn located at 2018 S. Bryant.

The victim had been shopping at EZ Pawn, she told police, and when she exited the store, she saw a man enter her vehicle and remove items. The victim attempted to get her property back from the subject and he held out a box cutter and threatened to cut her.  The victim was able to provide a description of the suspect’s vehicle and a license plate.

During the investigation the suspect was identified as 54-year-old James Casey. Officer B. Gesch and Officer J. Fisher made several attempts to locate Casey and ultimately located him in the lobby of Motel 6 located at 4205 S Bryant.

Casey was in the vehicle the victim had described and the victim’s property was located inside along with the box cutter knife. He was subsequently arrested and transported to the Tom Green County Jail, where he was charged with aggravated robbery.

Aggravated robbery is a first-degree felony punishable by five to 99 years in prison and a fine not to exceed $10,000.

Detective Jason Chegwidden is investigating the case.

This same guy threatened several people at the 29th st. Walmart on sat. He went on a racist tirade and threatened several people with violence. One the police arrived, They asked him to leave and he left. Come to find out he was banned from Denny's earlier in the day for being drunk. Glad it turned out okay for the victim of the robbery. Imagine how the police would have felt if it had not.

Seems that in San Angelo women with boxcutters make prime targets for random robberies.

Jus' sayin'.

Carry on.
