Fatal Head-on Crash Kills Area Teenager

ABILENE, Texas – An 18-year-old girl from Baird was killed in a crash on I-20 about four miles east of Abilene early Sunday morning in a two vehicle head-on crash.

According to the Texas DPS Trooper's investigation, 28-year-old Brenden Lucero of Cassville, Missouri was driving his 2010 Dodge Ram 3500 east in the westbound lanes of I-20 about 4 a.m. Sunday morning.

At the same time, 18-year-old Aspen Blessing of Baird, TX was traveling west in the westbound lanes of I-20 in her 2011 Ford Edge SUV.  The report says the Dodge crashed into the Ford head-on killing the teen driver.

Lucero was taken to Hendrick Medical Center with serious injuries.

Blessing was wearing a seatbelt, Lucero was not.  While it was dark in the early morning hours, the weather was clear and the roadway was dry.
