DPS: Drunk Driver Charged with Intoxication Manslaughter in Crash

COLORADO CITY – A passenger in a head-on crash was killed Tuesday morning after an alleged drunk drive crossed the center line causing the fatal crash in Mitchell County.

According to information released Wednesday from Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Marc Couch, a 2014 Ram 3500 truck driven by 27-year-old Eric Acosta Arguijo of Colorado City was southbound on SH350 11 miles south of Ira, TX  Tuesday morning.

At the same time, a 2016 Hyundai Tucson driven by 34-year-old Torres Ysuniel  Dominguez was northbound on the same stretch of highway.

According to Trooper Couch, the investigation shows the Ram truck veered into the northbound lane of traffic while approaching the Tucson.  The driver of the Tucson veered left to avoid the head on crash.  The truck crashed into the right passenger side of the SUV in the northbound lane.

The passenger in the SUV was killed by the impact of the crash.

The driver of the Ram truck was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Intoxication Manslaughter.

52-year-old Vega Teresa Corrales was identified as the passenger and was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday by Mitchell County Justice of the Peace Norma Perez.
