Icy Crashes on I-10 Near Kerrville Continue to Delay Traffic

KERRVILLE, TX – The Kerrville County Sheriff's Office has updated the current situation on I-10.

According to the KCSO, as of Feb. 4, I-10 remains dangerous and should be avoided.

"Sing the chorus with us: “Please, stay home.” Travel is still dangerous. Interstate 10 has seen some very bad situations and should be avoided. An 18-wheeler is jackknifed near mile marker 504 westbound, blocking travel," stated the KCSO on their Facebook. "We are working with TXDOT and other law enforcement partners to manage the scene. Adding your vehicle to the line of stopped traffic would be counterproductive for everyone. Our deputies confirm this morning that road conditions remain very slick countywide."

On Thursday, the Texas DPS asked the public to not only avoid I-10 but I-20 as well. The winter storm across Texas has cause icy roads which led to an extremely high number of crashes and jack-knifed Semi-trucks.

The KCSO and DPS are continuing to work on getting the interstate back open but until them they are asking the public to avoid the area.
