Suburban Rolls 2 or 3 Times in Crash that Closes Old Christoval Road

SAN ANGELO, TX — A Chevrolet Suburban rolled two to three times in a one-vehicle crash on Old Christoval road at approximately 4:30 p.m. Friday.

According to San Angelo police, the driver, who was a single occupant of the Chevy, ran off the right side of the road, slipped in a puddle of water, and over-corrected to the left, realized her mistake, and then swerved back to the right.

She departed the prepared surface to the right in a side-skid causing the Suburban to roll two to three times before coming to a rest right-side up.

SAPD Traffic Investigator Officer John Welch said that before he arrived the driver was seen walking around the scene. But perhaps as her adrenaline levels dropped, she succumbed to pain and was whisked away by a San Angelo EMS ambulance to Shannon Medical Center for treatment.

The driver was described as a female in her late 20s or early 30s.

No other vehicles or people were involved. The vehicle was registered in El Paso, Welch said. Welch said that speed could have been a factor, but regardless of the speed, she will be cited for Failure to Control Speed.

Welch said that severity of the driver’s injuries is just minor, his investigation will conclude quickly and the road will be re-opened soon.

The crash happened in the 5500 block Old Christoval Road.

Not only was she probably speeding (rolled over 2 - 3 times), but probably on her cell phone at the time when 'she realized her mistake'. Cell phones and drinking seem to be the usual suspects for people who 'drift' off the road or can't seem to maintain one lane.
