Early Morning Crash Closes Loop 306, Sends One to Hospital

SAN ANGELO, TEXAS -- Early this morning, a major motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and a second vehicle occurred on the 4700 block of the Houston Harte Expressway.

Sgt. Rick Tinsley, with the San Angelo Police Department, said, "About 6:50 a.m., San Angelo Emergency Communication Center got a 9-1-1 call for a motor vehicle accident with injuries on Houston Harte, eastbound, just east of Sherwood Way."

Upon arrival, police officers determined that a motorcycle and another vehicle were involved, added Tinsley.

The driver of the motorcycle has been transported to Shannon Medical Center with unknown injuries. She was coherent when the paramedics arrived.

For those traveling this morning, police have advised that the eastbound expressway will be closed between the Southwest and Sunset exit as investigators investigate the cause of the crash. Police will be on scene to divert traffic.

At this time, it is unknown whether any or both of the parties were traveling above the posted speed limit, 65, as "that is something the [investigators] will have to work on," said Sgt. Tinsley.
