Victims of Rollover Crash Near Abilene Identified

 

Two people were killed in a single-vehicle crash in Jones County this afternoon. According to Texas DPS, the initial investigation is not complete as of today at 2 p.m. The crash happened some time before 4:30 p.m.

KTXS out of Abilene has a reporter there where the Anson Fire Department is tending the scene. They report that the vehicle, a hatchback, had three souls onboard. The third occupant was rushed to the hospital with injuries.

The crash site is on FM 600 near the intersection of CR 337 north of Abilene.

We will have more information once DPS releases its crash report.

UPDATE: March 29 @ 10:00 A.M.

DPS provided updated information on the crash that occurred Tuesday afternoon on FM 600, approximately 11.6 miles of Anson. Two of the three occupants whom were pronounced dead at the scene and have been identified as John Henry Williams, 66, and Charsie June Williams,11, both of Lueders.

The third passenger, identified as Johnathan Lewis Williams, 15, was transported to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene. The only information available regarding his medical condition is that he did have incapacitating injuries but is in stable condition.

The crash is stated to have occurred at 3:53 p.m. as the passenger van, only identified as a 2005 Dodge, was traveling south on FM 600 and while on a curve in the road veered off. When the driver overcorrected, the vehicle came back onto the roadway and then proceeded to go into a side skid. The vehicle was then overturned which resulted in the three occupants being ejected. The investigation discovered that none of the occupants were wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The deceased were taken to Adams Graham Funeral Home in Anson.

The speed limit of the FM 600 is 70 mph. The investigation is currently ongoing.
