Crash on Bryant Result of Failure to Yield Right of Way

SAN ANGELO, TX - This evening, at approximately 5 p.m., San Angelo Police and EMS responders dispatched to the 3000 block of S. Bryant, in front of Calvert Collision, for a major crash with possible entrapment.

However, while en route, first responders learned the female driver did not appear to be trapped, but rather "unresponsive."

Upon arrival, officials closed down south bound lanes on S. Bryant because of the level of debris on the road. At this time, SAPD is asking drivers to avoid the area.

LIVE! is on scene and we will provide additional updates when available.

Update 5:54 p.m.

SAPD Officer John Bouligny said officers were dispatched to the area for the report of a crash with the possibility of entrapment.

"That wasn't the case," he said in regards to someone being trapped.

Officer Bouligny explained that the driver of the green Honda Civic was trying to cross Bryant and failed to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic. As a result, the driver of a Ford Expedition struck her.

Initially, the driver was reported as "unresponsive," but Bouligny said the woman went to Shannon hospital with non-incapacitating injuries. No one else was injured in the crash.

Officials are continuing the cleanup of the area.
