SAN ANGELO, TX – Shortly before 7 p.m. this evening, San Angelo Police and Medics dispatched to another major motor vehicle crash that occurred in the parking lot of the Walmart Supercenter, 5501 Sherwood Way. The crash blocked traffic for a short period of time.
An officer at the scene said “a 17-year-old male who was going from the dairy queen parking lot towards the gas station in Walmart” drove through an intersection and “ran into a 26-year-old female entering the parking lot.” The 17-year-old told the officer on scene that due to the traffic backing up at a nearby stop sign, he could not see around it, and thought it was clear to go.
“The female did sustain injuries to her back; the severity I am not sure of right now,” added the officer. “She was transported to Shannon Medical Center.”
The officer said no citations were given as “there is no ‘failure to yield right of way’ on private property."
The Walmart entrance near Dairy Queen and the road leading towards the Lowe's parking lot were both blocked off while officials cleared the area.
