Driver Disregards Red Light, Causes Crash On Edmund & N. Van Buren

SAN ANGELO, TX - At a little after 5:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to an unknown motor vehicle accident N. Van Buren and Edmund Blvd. One of the drivers was transported to Shannon Medical Hospital with a possible head injury.

The vehicles involved were a white Ford F-150 and a red Dodge Journey. The collision occurred after the driver of the F-150, a male, disregarded a red light and turned, which caused him to collide with the Journey. As a result, both vehicles landed on the curb.

The driver of the Journey, a female, was transported to the hospital after she complained of head pain. The driver of the F-150 will be seeking medical attention independently.

There was only one occupant in each vehicle, and the driver of the Ford was issued a citation for disregarding the red light. No further information is known regarding the medical condition of the female driver.

Edmund & N. Van Buren is a Stop sign, not a red light. Not that it changes anything, the idiot still disregarded, but either the location is wrong or the infraction is wrong.

I saw this accident, not when it happened but shortly afterwards. Given the time of day this occurred, I was almost certain this was going to be another "The sun was in my eyes!" accident. I'm sure it didn't help the driver headed west on Edmund see the red light runner.

Joel,

We double checked, and there is a light in the area. According to Officer Brian Bylsma, the driver disregarded a "red light," not a stop sign.

Regards,

Brandy

Thank you for double checking, I just drove by it on lunch, and realized that I was thinking of Howard and Edmund which is the next intersection down. II do apologize..

No worries, Joel. We appreciate the feedback. Many of our reporters are still learning, so if there's something we need to double check, we have no trouble doing so.

Have a good day,

Brandy
