SUV Goes Up in Flames in North San Angelo

 

SAN ANGELO, TX - A white Ford Expedition caught fire this evening on 19th St. and Volney, and luckily a woman and child managed to get out of the vehicle safely.

A San Angelo Police officer at the scene said when officials arrived after 5 p.m., the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames.

According to the driver, the woman was traveling north on Volney when she heard the car starting to backfire and felt heat from underneath the console. When she saw flames, she pulled over and got out of the vehicle safely along with a child passenger.

"Right now, the vehicle is probably going to be a loss," said the officer.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
