Garage Catches Fire on Gregory Drive

The San Angelo Fire Department and Fire Marshal’s office are investigating a structure fire that started shortly after 3 p.m. today.

Fire Marshal Ross Coleman said, at approximately 3:14 p.m., they received a call for a structure fire at 1212 Gregory Dr. The SAFD responded within minutes and found two girls outside the home. The garage was on fire.

“They were actually the 911 callers,” Coleman said.

He added that investigators are looking into the exact cause, but they have isolated the origin to the garage.

“There was a lot of smoke in the area,” noted Coleman.

Coleman said no one was injured, and the fire was extinguished in about a minute. There was minimal smoke damage.

“The carbon monoxide level is pretty high, but we’re ventilating right now and knocking that all out,” he said.

Apparently, there were reports of two cats being saved from the fire, but Coleman said he was not aware of the cat situation.
