DPS Identifies Woman Killed in Early Morning Crash Near Christoval

 

Texas DPS released the name of the victim from the single-vehicle fatal crash south of Christoval early this morning. According to her Facebook page, she had said goodbye to her friends in Sonora as her last post. "I love and miss all my good amazing crazy ass friends! i miss you s'much," she posted at around midnight Tuesday morning.

Her name is Sarai Delcarman Herrera, 20, of San Angelo.

Leading the crash investigation was Trooper Dustin Henderson Assisting him were Troopers Robert Aldrete, Billy Pierce,  Jason Lujan-Luna, as well as the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Department.

The original story:

According to Texas DPS Trooper Dustin Henderson, the woman was driving a red 2003 Dodge Neon northbound. Henderson said for an unknown reason, she failed to maintain a single lane of traffic and ran off the east side of the roadway.

Henderson said the Neon struck a dumpster on the driver’s side door and ricocheted into a tree. She was not wearing a seatbelt, he said.

The location of the crash:

The crash victim was pronounced dead by Judge Kay Longest, Justice of the Peace for Precinct 1. Johnson’s Funeral Home was on the scene as well.

The call for the crash came in at 7:14 a.m. for the location at 20100 U.S. 277 south. The roadway was dry and the skies clear.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.
