Bronte Woman Killed in Crash with Van Delivery Truck on U.S. 277

A Bronte woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash 0.5 miles north of Bronte on US 277 Saturday evening.

According to the Texas DPS, a 2007 Workhorse Custom Van was southbound on US 277 and crossed into the opposing lane of traffic. Traveling north at the same time was a 2004 Ford F-150. The F-150 was struck on the left front by the left front of the van.

The impact sent both vehicles spinning in opposite directions.

The custom van rolled over on its right side stretching between the edge of the roadway and the ditch on the east side.

The F-150 rolled completely over and back upright in the east ditch.

The sole occupant and driver of the F-150, Julia Kirkham Kennedy, 60, of Bronte died as a result of the crash. She was pronounced dead by Coke County Justice of the Peace Jackie Walker.

The driver of the Workhorse Custom Van, Angela Sue Scott, 37, of San Angelo, was transported to Shannon Medical Center with incapacitating injuries.

DPS said they are still investigating the exact cause of the crash. The lead investigator is Trooper Robert Aldrete of the San Angelo sector.

A Workhorse Custom Van is usually used in the package delivery business.

DPS reported that the crash happened Dec. 27 at 6:35 p.m. The roadway was dry and the sky was cloudy.

All victims were wearing their seat belts, DPS said.
