Road to Abilene Blocked by 18-Wheeler Rollover Crash on U.S. 277

An 18-wheeler hauling hay on a semi-trailer was involved in a rollover crash near the intersection of U.S. 277 and F.M. 2105 at 10:15 a.m. this morning.

Officials said the driver was taken by ambulance to Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo.

Traffic is being diverted, as most of the lanes of the major artery into town are blocked. The truck has a sign on the side that reads, “Hogg, Lamesa, TX.”

Diesel fuel and crank case oil spilled from the truck tractor and is being cleaned up as Texas DPS, Tom Green County Sheriff’s Department, and Quail Valley VFD are tending the scene.

UPDATE: 11:07 A.M.:

Department of Public Safety Trooper Diaz, investigating the incident said they do not know the identity of the driver. Diaz speculated that speed probably was a factor.as the driver was travelling eastbound on FM 2105, and failed to successfully negotiate the turn onto southbound U.S. 277.

Officials estimate the roadway will be blocked for another hour as they wait for Home Motors to bring Big Bertha and move the big truck.
