SAN ANGELO, TX — Tom Green County Commissioners missed a deadline to ban the sale and use of certain types of fireworks on the Independence Day Holiday weekend July 1st through the 4th. County Judge Steve Floyd said the deadline to ban aerial fireworks was June 15.
The Court also took no action on banning burning in the County during Tuesday morning’s regular meeting. Floyd said, “Summer is finally here!” referring to the extremely hot and dry conditions in the Concho Valley for several weeks. Summer officially begins at 11:24 p.m. today. Commissioners will evaluate conditions again next week and make a determination about the burn ban. Pct. 4 Commissioner Bill Ford told the court this morning he wanted to ban burning, but the court took no action.
