City Council May Buy Weed Control Boat for Lake Nasworthy

SAN ANGELO – The San Angelo City Council Tuesday will consider awarding the sole source purchase of a weed control boat to Weedoo Greenboat, Inc. of San Angelo for $105,552.50 for one specialized boat to control vegetation in Lake Nasworthy.

According to the agenda, the San Angelo boat company is the only one that has  the patented propulsion system which makes it more maneuverable than other options.

The Weedoo boat was presented to, and supported by, the Lake Nasworthy Home Owners Association representatives as an option to facilitate vegetation control, prevent shoreline erosion, and help remove litter and pollution from the lake. A quote was requested from Weedoo Greenboat Inc. for the purchase of one vessel to be used in the removal and maintenance of vegetation in Lake Nasworthy. The unit will be equipped with the tools needed to cut and remove several types of aquatic plants along the shoreline, floating on the surface, and growing from the lake bed. The boat will be used within the Lake Operations Division.
