Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series' Fall Shootout Event Canceled

SAN ANGELO, TEXAS -- The Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series' Lucas Oil Fall Shootout event has been canceled.

Race Director of the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Race Series Mike Chastain has announced that several races from this year's schedule have been canceled. One of the events canceled is San Angelo's two-day Lucas Oil Fall Shootout event. The event was originally scheduled for September 30 - October 1.

In a press release on the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series' homepage Chastain stated, "to ensure the continuing  viability of the Lucas Oil Drag Boat series the decision has been made to shorten the 2017 Race Schedule by three events.  We apologize for the late notice but the economies obtained by the cuts will help us move forward to construct a more robust race series in 2018."

A Race Chairman, Dayton Sherrouse, has assured local news sources that refunds will be given to those that have purchased tickets in advance.

LIVE! will continue to monitor the situation regarding any future Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series event.

Wouldn't have anything to do with them being sued by a local resident, would it? Way to chase off an economic boon to the community.

Well, at least now I've got a good excuse to keep my $0.00 in my wallet which I wasn't going to spend nor even go to that stupid thing anyhow...... Good riddance. If you want to bring something to town, how about a good tractor pull or even get another round and around dirt track raceway going again.......

We have been attending this event every year since it started except the first one and have always enjoyed it totally. We have spent a great deal of money and have brought more and more family and friends in to it and it has turned into a great family and friends get together. Now I understand that all prices have doubled including lot spaces, cooler passes, and not sure yet but probably tickets too. If this is the case, I will not continue to attend! Everyone should boycott this event and not be price gouged by greed!!!!
