ASU Theatre to Present 'The Gifts of the Magi'

 

University Theatre at Angelo State University will present for its annual Holiday Dinner Theatre “The Gifts of the Magi,” a musical based on famous O. Henry short stories, beginning Thursday, Nov. 20, in the ASU Modular Theatre.

Show times will be at 8 p.m. Nov. 20-22 and Dec. 4-6, with dinner served at 6:45 p.m. A matinee performance is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, with lunch served at 12:45 p.m. Tickets are $12.50 for ASU students and ASU activity card holders, $15 for non-ASU students and Arts at ASU subscribers, and $20 general admission. There is no charge for Arts at ASU subscribers who choose to skip the meal. The Modular Theatre is located in the Carr Education-Fine Arts Building, 2602 Dena Drive.

Set in New York at Christmastime, “The Gifts of the Magi” features music by Randy Courts and lyrics by Mark St. Germain and Courts. Drawn from two O. Henry short stories, elements of humor and drama are woven into a musical about sacrifice for love.
