Two Dead in Head-on Crash with a Peterbilt Near Big Lake

A man and woman in their 20s died early this morning on Texas 137 in a crash that happened seven miles south of Big Lake.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Juan Martin Constancio, 26, of San Angelo was traveling south on Texas 137 at a little after 4 a.m. this morning when he veered the 2009 Pontiac Torrent that he was driving into the northbound lane.

Traveling north at the same time was a 2008 Peterbilt truck tractor pulling a semi-trailer. Contancio’s Pontiac hit the Peterbilt head-on.

The passenger in the Pontiac was also killed. DPS identified her as Samantha Raquel Hernandez, 23, of San Angelo. Both occupants of the Pontiac were pronounced dead by Reagan County Justice of the Peace Patty Creech.

The Peterbilt driver was treated and released at the scene with minor injuries.

The speed limit on this stretch of rural highway is 75 mph. and the conditions were clear and dry.

DPS reported that neither occupant of the Pontiac were wearing seatbelts.

The investigator was Trooper Michael Johnson of the Ozona office. The official time on the report was 4:23 a.m.
