Angelo State University’s fourth annual ASUFit Cyclocross Series will begin Wednesday, Oct. 2, with Race One of the five-race bicycle series starting at 6:30 p.m. on the off-road trails and open space adjacent to the ASU Softball Complex on Johnson Street.
Registration will be from 5:15-6:15 p.m. in the Softball Complex parking lot. All races in the series are open free to the public and will include divisions for riders aged 6 years old and younger, those aged 7-12 and adults. The adult divisions will include sub-divisions for male and female expert, intermediate and beginner riders. Youth races will begin at 6:15 p.m. followed by the adult races at 6:30 p.m.
The format for the cyclocross races consists of multiple laps around a comparatively short, 1-mile-per-lap course that includes one or two obstacles where cyclists must dismount and carry their bikes over the barrier. Cyclists will complete each lap in 6-8 minutes during the 40- minute races.
The ASUFit Cyclocross Series will continue with races each Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. through Oct. 30 at the same location.
