Power Outages Expected with Red Flag Warning and High Wind Advisory Saturday

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- A Wind Advisory is in effect for the Concho Valley Saturday along with a Red Flag Warning.  

According to the National Weather Service Office in San Angelo, West winds at  25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are expected through 6 p.m. Saturday.  Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power lines. Scattered power outages are expected. A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong winds low relative humidity and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior. 

The National Weather Service in San Angelo has issued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect from 11 a.m this morning to 6 p.m. this evening.

Very windy conditions will affect the area today. The strongest winds will be across the Big Country, with sustained west winds of 25 to near 40 mph with gusts to 50 mph possible. This will cause hazardous driving conditions, especially for high profile vehicles, and may result in areas of blowing dust. Boaters on area lakes will also choppy conditions. A Wind Advisory is in effect Saturday for the Concho Valley, Big County, and northern Heartland areas. Critical fire weather conditions are also expected as a result of the strong winds, when combined with low relative humidity values for areas mainly west of a Haskell to Junction line. A Red Flag Warning is in effect for these areas this afternoon.
