Chief Frank Carter Weighs in on the Police Chief Election

OPINION — First and foremost, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to my family, friends, and supporters who have stood by me throughout my career. Your unwavering love, encouragement, and understanding have been my anchor during both the highs and lows of this demanding role. Your support has made all the difference, and for that, I am eternally grateful.

During my tenure as Police Chief, we have faced numerous challenges and celebrated many successes together. We have navigated through difficult times, adapting to changing landscapes and ever-evolving demands of law enforcement. Through it all, our dedication to serving and protecting our community has remained steadfast.

I am proud to say that together, we have achieved significant milestones and made a lasting impact on our city. We have implemented innovative crime prevention strategies, fostered community engagement, and built strong partnerships with local organizations and stakeholders. Our collaborative efforts have resulted in a safer and more cohesive community.

However, I firmly believe that the success we have achieved is not solely attributed to my efforts, but rather the collective dedication and hard work of our entire police force. Each officer, staff member, and volunteer has played an integral role in our accomplishments. I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside such exceptional individuals.

As I prepare to move on, I am confident about the future of our department.

It is with great pleasure that I endorse police chief candidate Lt. Mike Hernandez as my successor for the position of Police Chief.

All the candidates are great officers and share some exceptional core values. I have had the opportunity to work with all three throughout the last 31 years plus. I am confident that of the three, Mike possesses the leadership skills, qualities, management experience, and vision that are necessary to lead our department into the future. He is the best prepared to work with community leaders, city leadership, city staff, and members of the law enforcement community to further enhance the safety and well-being of our community. I have full confidence in his ability to build upon our achievements and be a successful chief of police.

In closing, I would like to once again express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you. Your support, camaraderie, and friendship have made my time as Police Chief truly memorable, and I look forward to the next chapter of my life with optimism and excitement.

Thank you all for your support,

Sincerely,
Chief Frank Carter III
