Duel of 2 F-250s Leads to Fatal Crash

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Texas DPS is investigating a crash on FM 2105 at the Oil Field Drive intersection. The location is one intersection east of the Grape Creek Road intersection when many crashes have occurred over the years.

According to DPS spokesman Trooper Justin Baker, two F-250s were westbound on FM 2105 in trail. The trailing F-250 elected to attempt to pass the lead F-250. During the passing maneuver, the passing F-250 hit the lead F-250 and careened out of control off the prepared surface of the roadway and through a fence where the pickup came to a sudden stop near Oil Field Drive.

Baker said the male passenger of the passing F-250 died in the crash. No names will be released until next-of-kin are notified.

It was daylight at 7:19 p.m. when the crash occurred. The skies were clear and the roadways dry.

FM 2105 has been closed for about a half mile each side of the crash and will remained closed until the DPS crash investigation has concluded and the crash scene cleared.

We saw a justice of the peace and a vehicle from Johnson’s Funeral Home arrive at the scene earlier.
