Several Homes Catch on Fire Wednesday Afternoon

ABILENE, Texas — Beginning shortly after lunchtime Wednesday Abilene Fire Department firefighters responded to a fire call that turned out to be three homes on fire. The fires were located in the 3900 Chris Drive -- near Buffalo Gap Road and Beltway South.

According to KTXS, one home was destroyed, a second suffered heavy damage, including to the roof, and a third house suffered exterior damage. One of the homes was occupied at the time of the fire, but everyone made it out safely.

Unfortunately, one home had several cats and they all died in the fire. Animal Control went to the scene to remove the bodies.

"It's really tragic. It happened so fast," said Bela Brozek, who lives in the neighborhood. "Massive flames -- 20 feet high in the air."
