Paint Rock Man Killed After Rolling Truck to Avoid Deer

VOSS, TX -- A Paint Rock man died last night after a rollover crash on FM1929.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, on September 9, at around 11:30 p.m., troopers were dispatched to FM 1929 just 11 miles south of Voss for the report of a major motor vehicle accident.

When they arrived, they discovered a 2001 Ford F-250 rolled over in the side of the road with the driver ejected from the vehicle.

Troopers say that the driver was 58-year-old Curtis Shipman of Paint Rock. His body was taken to the Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger.

The passenger, 64-year-old Wanda Shipman of Paint Rock, was taken to Shannon with critical injuries.

Further investigation revealed that the truck was traveling south and a deer walked in the road. The driver swerved then over-corrected causing his truck to roll. The driver was not wearing his seatbelt.
