Rams For Christ Building at Angelo State University Being Renovated

SAN ANGELO, TX-- The Rams for Christ building on the Angelo State University campus is being torn down and completely renovated in a project called  "Transforming Campus: Faith, Mission, Future."

Construction crews started the project Tuesday and plan to have the new building ready to go by the next fall semester.

This renovation is long overdue for the building. In 1965 elders of the Johnson St. Church of Christ planted the campus ministry in order to change the world for Christ by teaching credit Bible courses at Angelo State University. Since then the campus has gotten away with the courses, and with the change left a need for remodel. The building is built for a classroom setting, and with the organization needing more open space for worship they have decided to have a complete restart.

They plan to make the building bigger, move the porch to the street side, and also make the entrance of the building face the mall.

"We want to ensure that we are a presence and a light on campus for years to come. We have a 50 year presence and we want to continue to have a profound presence on campus," said Director and Bible Scholar Doug Johnson. "It's obviously for faith but also campus life, and we want to be appealing as possible to maximize the potential of that location."

The project is being put on by the St. Johnson Church of Christ, the sponsor church for Rams for Christ, ASU Alumni, and other church supporters.
