DALLAS, TX — A 20-year-old man was arrested in connection to the murder of a transgender woman in Dallas.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Angelo Walker murdered 22-year-old Merci Richey on June 30.

According to the affidavit, Walker shot Richet in the parking lot of an apartment complex. According to a witness, he saw Walker the night of the murder dressed in all black and wearing a ski mas he was “known to wear.”

The witness then saw Walker chasing a woman through the parking lot of the complex and subsequently shooting her. He then allegedly stood over her and shot her several times as she lay on the ground. According to police, the witness’s description matched the crime scene.

Richey was pronounced dead around 6:00 a.m. Residents of the complex told authorities they heard gunshots around 5:00 a.m., but no 9-1-1 calls were related to the incident at that time.

Walker has been charged with murder and his bail has been set at $900,000.
