Woman Kills Herself and Her Daughter During Standoff

DALLAS, TX – A woman shot herself and her 8-year-old daughter during a police standoff early Monday morning.

According to NBC5, around 12:30 a.m. Monday the woman barricaded herself and two children inside their home after a fight with her husband. The husband called police after she began shooting at him.

Dallas SWAT officers were called to the scene and surrounded the home during the early hours of the morning. Around 3:00 a.m. the couple’s 12-year-old son was able to escape the house unharmed.

The standoff lasted for a few more hours until SWAT officers attempted to break into the home. The woman then opened fire on the officers and grazed one in the arm. The officers retreated without returning the fire and coordinated a second attempt to enter the house.

At 9:05 a.m. the SWAT team was able to make entry into the home and inside they found the woman and eight-year-old dead in what appeared to be a murder-suicide.
