Cedar Park Resident Hits the Jackpot

CEDAR PARK, TX – A lucky Cedar Park resident became the winner of the $227 million jackpot for Tuesday night’s Mega Millions drawing.

According to KXAN, the ticket was purchased at a Lakeline Express Mart and the winner is now the owner of the largest Texas Lottery paid out to a single person in the history of the state.

This week’s Mega Millions is the third-largest ever to be sold in Texas. The largest was awarded in 2015 with a payout of $564.1 million and the second largest was $330 million in 2007.

According to the Texas Lottery Commission, this is the first time that someone has won by matching all six numbers on their ticket out of all the lottery players from Bastrop, Travis, Hays, and Williamson counties.

The Texas Lottery began in 1992 and has generated $28 billion in revenue for the state of Texas. Over $58 billion has been paid out in prizes.
