U.S. Border Patrol Saves Injured Illegal Alien

DEL RIO, TX – On Oct. 25 U.S. Uvalde Border Patrol Agents performed routine checks on a freight train when they encountered a man hiding inside a gondola-like rock hauler who was injured.  He was taken to the Uvalde Memorial Hospital and treated for a broken wrist and a sprained ankle.  Without intervention or notice he may have died in the container as his injuries made it impossible for him to escape the container under his own power.

The 19-year-old man was determined to be a Honduras national and had entered the United States illegally.  Upon release from the hospital, he was processed for illegal entry and faces removal proceedings.

“Crossing the border is filled with dangers for those who risk illegal entry into the United States,” said Del Rio Sector Acting Chief Patrol Agent, Matthew J. Hudak. “Our specially trained agents vary their interdiction patrol tactics and stand ready to provide life-saving assistance to any person at a moment’s notice.”

The Del Rio Border Patrol Sector is part of the Joint Task Force-West South Texas Corridor, which leverages federal, state and local resources to combat transnational criminal organizations. To report suspicious activity call the Del Rio Sector’s toll free number at 1-866-511-8727.
