Border Patrol Rescues Man from Rio Grande

EAGLE PASS - This past Wednesday, Sept 14, at approximately 10 a.m., a 20-year-old male was rescued by Border Patrol Agents.

The male, a Mexican national, was spotted by the Border Marine Unit who immediately worked on rescuing him. The man had been stranded for nearly 4 hours after he attempted to cross the Rio Grande. The strong currents had trapped the subject, making it impossible for him to cross to either side of the river.  The Marine Unit tossed a rescue line to the subject who was then was pulled into safety.

The man was then transported to the Eagle Pass South Station for processing after he declined medical treatment.

“The Rio Grande River is dangerous and unpredictable making the journey through it unforgiving and resulting in many deaths,” said Del Rio Sector Acting Chief Patrol Agent Matthew J. Hudak. “The men and women of the United States Border work diligently in preventing the loss of life."
