San Angelo Youth Soccer Team Brings Home the Gold from Dallas Metroplex

FRISCO, TX — The under-10, or U10, San Angelo Juggernauts placed first at the North Texas Tournament of Champions in the Dallas Metroplex this weekend. According to Michael Petrella, one of the parents, this was the first time that a San Angelo team brought home the gold first place trophy.

The tournament is a competition of 80 teams that were matched on nine soccer fields in Plano, Frisco, and Dallas. All the teams invited had finished first in their own recreational league in locations all over Texas, Petrella said.

The San Angelo Juggernauts won all five games played on both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s games were shutouts, where the kids from San Angelo won 2-0, 4-0, and 5-0 in each respective game. Sunday, the matchups were a little more tough. The Juggernauts won the semifinal game 2-1 and the championship game 2-1.
