Veribest's Appeal Denied, Hit With One Year Probation in Addition to Postseason Forfeit

AUSTIN, TX — Word has come out from the UIL's State Executive Committee that Veribest High School's appeal has been denied.

The committee held an emergency hearing Thursday morning after Veribest appealed a decision that would prevent the school from participating in the 1A state football playoffs.  The punishment stems from a violation of Section 1206(d) which covers off-season workouts and in-school day periods that coaches can use for practice.  It is not clear how Veribest violated the rule specifically, but the Twitter account @sixmanguru, a platform for the six man dedicated website SixManGuru.com, shared that Veribest tried to explain the situation and admitted to a violation during the hearing.

They also reported the committee's decision at 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning saying, "Veribest appeal denied. Plus added 1 year of probation for district."

All of this comes at the worst possible time for Falcons' players, coaches, and fans that have been a part of the team all season.  Veribest's bye is this week which means they have already finished their regular season and were preparing for the playoffs as the second and final team to make the postseason from the 13-1A DI district.  They finished the season 3-1 in the district and had secured a second place finish regardless of what happened in week 11's action.

Because the appeal was denied, their season is now over and district rival Robert Lee (5-3) will sneak in in their place.

More details are soon to come.  This is a developing story.
