No. 1 Wall Sweeps Alpine After Second Inning Hit Parade.

MIDLAND, TX -- The no. 1-ranked Wall Hawks capitalized on errors and timely hitting to cruise to a 16-4 win over the Alpine Bucks in five innings on Saturday to complete the regional quarterfinal series sweep.

Wall and Alpine couldn’t manage a run in the first frame. Then the top-ranked Hawks flexed their muscle and sent 18 batters to the plate to score 13 runs on seven hits and a pair of errors. Ryan Gully capped off the scoring with a three-run triple.

Wall got three quality innings out of starting pitcher Caleb Heuertz, who struck out three and only allowed one run on three hits to earn the win.

Baylor Halfmann came on in relief of Heuertz, but went just ⅓ inning, allowing three runs before making way for Bryson Ballard.

Colton Diebitsch was one of two Hawks to register three hits, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Jake Jansa was 3-for-4 with four runs scored.

Ryan Gully turned in the team’s high marks for RBIs after going 1-for-3 with four RBIs.

It’s the third straight year the Hawks have advanced to the regional semifinals.

Wall (33-0) will face Breckenridge in the regional semifinals next week. Details will be announced later since the schools are working to schedule around each other’s graduations next week.
