Area Softball Standings: Who's in the Playoffs and Who's in the Hunt?

SAN ANGELO, TX -- The area high school softball season is into its final days and the playoff races in the area are still in play for a few teams.

Out of the 16 area schools who play softball, six have clinched playoff berths entering the final couple of days. Ballinger, Brady, Grape Creek, Wall, Mason and Winters will be in the postseason come late April. Five are still in the hunt.

The Central Lady Cats are currently in a tie with Fort Worth Richland (7-13, 4-5) for fourth place with three games to go, including their second meeting with Richland. The magic number to clinch the fourth spot is four, meaning a combination of wins from one team and losses from the other must equal four in order to clinch a playoff spot.

In District 4-3A, Brady and Grape Creek are tied with a 6-4 record and both teams swept Reagan County to hold the tiebreaker with the Lady Owls. That means the two teams will join Ballinger and Wall in the playoffs.

Junction's magic number is one. That means a win or a Menard loss on Friday puts the Lady Eagles into the postseason. Eldorado's magic number is two, meaning two wins to close out the season or a win and a Menard loss this Friday will send Eldorado to the postseason from District 5-2A.

Miles, looking to join Winters in the playoffs from District 6-2A, only needs a win this Friday against Roby.
