AREA BASEBALL: Couch, Central Open Lewisville Tourney with No-Hitter, Split of Day

 

LEWISVILLE, TX -- The Central Bobcats picked up a win and a loss in two games to open the Lewisville Tournament on Thursday.

Senior Gunner Couch highlighted the day with his no-hitter in Central's 5-0 win over The Colony in their second game. In total, Couch allowed just three base runners on three walks with 10 strikeouts during his complete game gem.

Couch also picked up the first two runs for Central with a two-run single to left field with one out. The Texas State-bound senior picked up his third RBI on another single two innings later to put Central up 4-0. Central would finish their scoring on an error by The Colony's first baseman.

Couch was the only Bobcat with a multi-hit game, going 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs to his name to go with the no-hitter and winning decision.

Central fell 3-2 to Lewisville to open the day.

Blake Mikeska stood out at the plate, going 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored. Nixon Brannon picked up the lone RBI for Central while going 1-for-3 at the plate with a walk.

Trey Neslage picked up the loss for Central despite throwing six good innings where he allowed three runs on three hits with six strikeouts.

Central (10-5-1) squares off with Lake Dallas at noon on Friday.
