SAN ANGELO, TX -- The Christoval Lady Cougars had a dominant run in the 2018-19 season.
The Lady Cougars went 25-11 with an undefeated 10-0 record in district play and made their first regional tournament appearance since 2016.
That run was reflected in the All-District 7-2A honors announced this week following Christoval's loss in the regional semifinals. Eight Lady Cougars were All-District honorees, including two superlatives. Eldorado and Forsan were second with five players named each.
Senior forward Kayce Jackson highlighted Christoval's honorees with her nod as the district's MVP.
Jackson was a major focal point of Christoval's multifaceted offense. The 5-11 forward was instrumental in their win over Seagraves to clinch a spot in the regional tournament. Jackson finished the game with 13 points and was one of three Lady Cougars in double figures that game.
Head coach Scott Richardson was named coach of the year after a historic season. Richardson earned his 300th career win in a win over Ozona in January.
Emily Garcia took home the Offensive MVP and Macey Evans took home the defensive MVP honors for Forsan.
Miles freshman Regan Smithwick was named District Newcomer of the Year after helping the Lady Bulldogs to their first playoff berth since 2016.
The District's 6th Man Award went to Eldorado senior Destinny Sandate. Off the bench, Sandate accounted for 30 rebounds,, 23 points, 13 steals and 12 assists.
