Icy Roads Forces Lake View to Postpone Abilene Cooper Game to Thursday

SAN ANGELO, TX-- The first round of winter weather of 2019 has caused headaches all around the Concho Valley, including local sports teams. More so, Lake View High School.

The Lake View Chief and Maiden soccer teams were scheduled to scrimmage Graham today in Graham. However, the scrimmage was canceled.

The Chief basketball team was also scheduled to host former district rival Abilene Cooper today in their first game of 2019. Instead, the game was moved to Thursday, Jan. 3, at 6 p.m.

That means the Chiefs will play two games in as many days with Ballinger coming to the Ben Norton Gym on Friday, Jan. 4. It will be the second time this season the two teams have met. Lake View managed a comeback win over the Bearcats in their first meeting in 2018.

Lake View is coming off a stellar showing at the Monahans Chamber Christmas Tournament. The Chiefs went 5-0 over the course of three days at the tournament, including a win over 6A Odessa High.
