AREA GIRLS HOOPS: Lady Hawks Come Back Against Jim Ned

 

WALL, TX — The top-ranked Wall Lady Hawks came back from trailing most of the game to beat the Jim Ned Lady Indians 39-36. 

The first quarter was close with the score 10-9 in favor for the Lady Indians. 

Jenna Moore started hot for Jim Ned with eight of Jim Ned’s points in the quarter. Sawyer Lloyd had 5 points in that quarter. 

The second quarter had a lot of similarities to the first both teams playing great defense with the score being at half time 23-18 Jim Ned. 

Brooke Galvan had a great second quarter for the Lady Indians as she put up seven straight points. 

Wall played excellent team ball with a different score in the 2nd quarter. Lloyd also managed to get an easy bucket off a steal to take the lead at one point in the quarter. 

In the middle of the third quarter the Lady Indians went on a 6-0 run. Then Lloyd got a steal and a bucket point followed by Jayden Fiebeiger getting a block that led to a score to bring the lead to 29-25 at the end of the quarter. 

After trailing for most of the game, the Lady Hawks got into a full court press. This led to many defensive plays which gave them a 6-0 run. 

The Lady Hawks ended up coming back and taking the win over the Lady Indians. 

Sawyer Lloyd finished with 11 points and a handful of steals. Sam Rocha finished with the team-high 12 points.

Wall is now 6-1 on the season.

Lady Broncos Notch Fifth Straight Win, Dominate Comstock

A gigantic first quarter helped lift the Sonora Lady Broncos to their ninth win of the season in a 75-27 rout of Comstock.

The Lady Broncos outscored Comstock 32-13 in the first quarter to set the tone. 

Sonora then played defense to hold Comstock in check, outscoring them 13-5 in the second. The two teams each scored four points in the third.

The Lady Broncos capped off the game with a 21-5 run in the fourth quarter.

Junior Brae Harris led the offense with 14 points. Her sister Raeven hit three three pointers on her way to 11 points. Senior Jackilyn Sykes also had 11 points on the night .

Mary Kyle Johnson was the leader on the boards for Sonora with nine rebounds. Juniors Aleasha Smith and Angela Gonzalez each had seven.

Sonora is now 9-1 on the year heading into the Bank and Trust Tournament this weekend in Sonora.
