Central's McIvor Reopens Recruiting Following Tech Coaching Changes

SAN ANGELO, TX-- Texas Tech University announced last night that Matt Wells is the new head football coach for the Red Raiders.

His hire came after former head coach and player Kliff Kingsbury was relieved of his duties following his third straight losing season.

Now, Central senior Maverick McIvor has decommitted from Texas Tech. He made the announcement on his personal Twitter account at 11:30 a.m.

"First off, I want to thank the old staff and everyone at TTU for everything they did for me," McIvor wrote. "With the new coaching changes and an uncertain scholarship on the line, I will be reopening my recruitment."

McIvor currently holds 16 scholarship offers from schools across the country.

Kingsbury is known to recruit quarterbacks and has been rumored to be the next offensive coordinator at USC, one of the 16 schools to offer the 6-foot-3 senior. However, reports also say Kingsbury is looking for other collegiate and NFL jobs.

McIvor missed nine games in 2018 with a knee injury suffered in Central's week 2 win over Del Rio.
