Martinez Leads Group of 16 Chiefs Honored in All-District

SAN ANGELO, TX-- The Lake View Chiefs made some strides in 2018 and their opponents in District 2-4A Division I took notice by naming 16 Chiefs to the All-District team.

Junior Rudy Martinez led the way with a superlative honor after being named one of four Iron Men in the district. Martinez earned that title after proving to be a utility player for the Chiefs.

Offensively, Martinez is listed as a receiver and a running back. He accounted for 243 yards of total offense.

Defensively, Martinez is listed as an outside line backer. He had 41 total tackles and two interceptions this season.

Lake View had seven players named to the first team All-District in Kendall Blue, Ahmad Daniels, Anthony Guevara, Daniel Ramos, Manuel Baeza, Johnny Espinosa and Anthony Martinez.

Blue was named a first team running back after switching from QB to running back in their second district game. He had 606 yards rushing and eight rushing touchdowns for the Chiefs.

Daniels earned his honor despite playing one district game in his only year playing football at Lake View. The senior had 688 yards and nine touchdowns receiving.

Espinosa picked up the defensive honor after picking off an incredible 11 passes this season.

Both Daniels and Espinosa were named to the Honorable Mention team for their efforts on the opposite side of the their first team honors.

Adrian Villa, Sonny Moreno, Donatello Tovar, Michael Holguin, David Tanguma and Logan Sanders were the six Chiefs named to the second team in 2-4A DI.

Tanguma was the hero of the Chiefs' season after intercepting a pass late and scoring the game winning touchdown in their 28-21 bi-district win over Mountain View.

Also named to the Honorable Mention were Albert Rodriguez, Dalton Ratliff and Ethan Sanchez.

Lake View's season came to a close last Saturday in a loss to Wichita Falls Hirschi. All four representatives from the district lost along with the Chiefs this past weekend.
