Central's Season Ends in Rout

ARLINGTON, TX-- The Central Bobcats’ season came to an abrupt end in a 55-14 loss to Arlington Lamar at Cravens Field on Friday night.

The Bobcats were able to post 310 yards of total offense. However, penalties and short fields to defend killed the Bobcats Friday night. Central had 12 penalties for 100 yards in the loss.

Sophomore Malachi Brown accounted for 260 yards of total offense. Jackson Timme and Christian Gabaldon accounted for the only touchdowns for Central.

The Vikings capitalized on their possessions for 457 yards of total offense.

Lamar opened the scoring quick in the first quarter with a 36-yard pass from Jack Dawson to Cam Brady. The extra-point would put the Vikings up 7-0 with 9 minutes, 38 seconds left in the first quarter.

Central muffed the ensuing kickoff and gave Lamar one of many short fields on the night. The Bobcats stepped up on defense and held Lamar scoreless.

Central would tie it up at seven on a 17-yard touchdown pass from Brown to Timme with 10:49 left in the first quarter.

Behind Dawson, Williams, Brady and West, Lamar would then score 47 points unanswered.

On Central’s opening drive of the second half, the Bobcats had a touchdown called back for a holding call. Brown would later throw an interception to conclude the drive and drain momentum from that stout drive.

The Bobcats didn’t score again until the 10:37 mark in the fourth quarter when Brown found a diving Christian Gabaldon for a 20-yard touchdown pass. Central still trailed 48-14 after Miles Houser’s extra-point.

Backup running back Caleb Fuller got in on the action for the Vikings with a 13-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to put Lamar up 55-14 late.

Central finishes their season with a 7-4 record. Lamar will face Odessa Permian in the area round.
