Central Utility Player Rosas Announces Big 12 Commitment

SAN ANGELO, TX-- To say the offseason has been good for the Central Bobcat baseball team would be a pretty big understatement.

In June, two former Central Bobcats, Davis Martin and Josh Sawyer, were drafted to the MLB; Sawyer, from Texas, to the Chicago Cubs and Davis, from Texas Tech, to their cross-town rival White Sox.

Both of those former Central Bobcats made it to Omaha for the Division I College World Series. The Arkansas Razorbacks would knock off both teams; Texas in their opening game and Texas Tech in a winner’s bracket matchup. Eventually, Florida would dispatch both teams from the elimination bracket.

Following their trips to Omaha, each player announced they would go pro.

Then, around 5:30 today, Central star Rance Rosas announced he would follow a similar route Martin and Sawyer took by committing to Baylor, another Big 12 school.

Rosas was the offensive spark plug for the Bobcats in his junior season, hitting a solid .351 with nine doubles, four triples and four home runs to go with his team-leading 30 RBIs and 38 runs scored.

Those numbers earned first team All-District 8-6A honors for the senior-to-be utility man in 2018.

The Bobcats saw their season end in the Bi-District round of the 2018 Texas High School playoffs when South Grand Prairie swept the Bobcats in a best-of-three series.
