Lady Cats Downed by Pesky Copperas Cove Despite Sixth Inning Rally

COPPERAS COVE, TX-- The Central Lady Cat softball team put forth a valiant effort, but came up just short in a 4-3 loss to the Copperas Cove Lady Dawgs on Tuesday.

The Lady Cats spotted Copperas Cove a 4-0 lead through five innings.

During the top of the sixth inning, the Lady Cats would make up three of those runs. Emily Sanchez would drive in two of those runs on a single to center field.

That hit was Sanchez' only one in three at-bats.

Still trailing by just one run, Central would go down in order in the seventh inning leaving the comeback just short.

Micaiah Howell was the only Lady Cat to record multiple hits in her 2-for-3 performance with an RBI and a run scored.

Bailey Fulps started in the circle for Central and went the distance. The freshman allowed four runs on eight hits with five strikeouts on her ledger.

Next up, the Lady Cats (10-6-2, 6-3) will host Killeen Harker Heights on Tuesday, April 3, at 6 p.m.
