Despite Loss to No. 11 Waco Midway, Lady Cats in Playoffs for First Time in 2 Years.

 

WACO, TX-- The Central Lady Bobcats fell to 11th-ranked Waco Midway 44-35 Tuesday night.

But thanks to losses by Belton and Killeen, the Lady Bobcats will be in the playoffs as the fourth seed representative from District 8-6A.

Central got a three-pointer from Morgan Walker to open the scoring but would be outscored 13-9 in the first quarter.

The four point deficit would grow to seven before halftime after the Lady Panthers outscored the Lady Cats 10-7 to take a 23-16 lead at the break.

Central would best Midway in the third quarter 10-6 behind Tay Dosson's six points to make it a three point game going into the final quarter of play.

However, a 15-9 run to close out the game sealed the game for Midway.

Walker finished the night as the leading scorer with 15 points for Central.

Central finishes the regular season at 20-15 and 7-7 in Head Coach Landon Dyer's first year. Midway finished 30-4 and 12-2 in district play

The Lady Bobcats will play Duncanville in the first round of playoffs. Duncanville is the top-ranked team in the state according to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.
