Lake Nasworthy HOA: Fireworks Show Will Go On Saturday

SAN ANGELO, TX – The Lake Nasworthy Home Owners Association has announced Tuesday that it will continue with the annual Independence Day fireworks show.

As previously reported, on June 29, the City of San Angelo shut down all parks at Lake Nasworthy from July 3 until July 13 to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Here is the original story: San Angelo Shuts Down Lake Nasworthy on Independence Day Weekend

The following day, June 30, the Lake Nasworthy HOA confirmed that even though the lake and park would be closed they would continue with their firework show.

The following is a statement from the Lake Nasworthy HOA:

"The City of San Angelo as well as our homeowner’s association want to have the fireworks show, we just want to find a way to keep everyone safe and help to slow the spread of the corona virus. We can’t stress enough to everyone to please practice the six foot social distancing, avoid large gatherings, stay in your group only. If you can view the fireworks from your home or neighborhood, please stay home to watch. If you can’t then by all means come out, but remember the parks will be closed so pull over only where it is legal to do so. Treat the show like the old drive in movie theaters, stay in your car, sit on the tailgate keep to yourselves. Be respectful of other people’s property, be respectful of our law enforcement, we have a great police department in San Angelo and they will be out helping with traffic and congestion. As always, take your trash home with you and most of all, love our neighbors and our country and enjoy the show! If anything changes we will keep everyone informed."

Lake Nasworthy HOA is asking for everyone to stay safe and social distance during this year's show.

Close all public access, yet continue with a show that attracts thousands. I see a potential problem with public vs. homeowners.

Those homeowners aren't going to take no crap, if you didn't notice yet, most of them are particular and don't hesitate to involve the law, they got a whole branch called the Lake Patrol out there.

Public access is closed and only select private access to property is available this year whether the public likes it or not, but I don't expect that people are so hellbent on a good time that they put their freedom or life on the line over screwing with a homeowner over parking on their property.

It'll be like the "Can't sit here", clip from Forrest Gump, where he meets Jenny on the schoolbus.
