Stephens Central Library Expands Services in Phase III

SAN ANGELO, TX — Phase 3 has officially begun at the Tom Green County Library and will feature an increase in services, expanded hours, and longer visiting times.

The library will continue encouraging patrons to use the curbside pickup and external book drops as the preferred method of retrieval and return of materials. Curbside pickup for holds is only available 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.

The hours of 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Monday through Saturday will continue to be reserved for high-risk patrons. Patrons who are not 65 and older or have a serious medical condition are asked to visit during general public hours — 11:00 a.m. at Stephens Central and noon at the two branches.

The Stephens library branch will also be extending its hours to 8:30 p.m. on Monday through Thursday, to 5:30 p.m. on Fridays, and 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays.

Guests are allowed one visit per day and can get 60 minutes browsing the stacks, reading magazines, and checking out. They will also be allowed 90 minutes of computer use; with PC-time extensions where needed.

The occupancy limit has been increased at Stephens, 20 patrons on the first floor, 10 on the children’s floor, and 15 on the second floor.

The library will not be hosting meetings or any in-person events, but they will be announcing virtual programs in the coming weeks.

“The theme for this summer's program is "Imagine your Story: Fantasy, Mythology, and Folklore" and will be conducted virtually, using a digital reading log,” said Amy Dennis
Community Relations Coordinator. “Participants will not only log reading hours in the virtual platform but will also complete entertaining and educational activities or "challenges" that allow them to engage more actively with the material.”
